Colorado Springs Birding & Ranch Stay - With Meals - 4 Days -- Birding is the fastest growing outdoor activity in the country and Chico Basin Ranch is a great place to observe Swainsons thrush, Western Tanagers, Mountain Plovers, burrowing owls among many others. Our bird list includes over 270 birds because the ranch is a migratory pathway due to the abundance of water and feed for resting stays.

This quaint little tin-roofed cabin is located ten miles from Ranch Headquarters and has its own corral, hay, and water pump for the horses. Inside you'll be greeted by a clean, newly refurbished, 4 room cottage that sleeps four. Enjoy indoor plumbing and only 4 miles from Ranch Headquarters. In the kitchen is a propane cook stove, a tank for running water, and a wood stove in the living area for heating.

You will be given a map of the ranch that includes locations of rare bird sightings, along with blinds which will put right in close for great viewing. Or, you may opt for engaging a guide (for an extra fee) who can show you where rare birds have been spotted and the best viewing places. You'll be completely free to hike our trails and roads, canoe on our lakes, or sit in our blinds at any time of the day or night. You'll find peace and quiet on this short grass prairie, which makes the best opportunities for sighting our feathered friends.

Many springs and summers we have a bird banding station managed by the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory where you will be able to see a great number of birds and learn a great deal from the bander. Choose to stay in any of our three guest houses: the Casita, Holmes House, or the Bar JH for your birding get-a-way. No minimum guest requirement.

A minimum of 2 guests is required for your safety and enjoyment. This package includes lodging, birding lists, maps, and meals. This price is per person for 4 days and 3 nights. A personal guide can be purchased for $150.00 per day or $100 for half a day. Additional nights may be purchased for $282.00 per adult and $125.00 per child.
